Vermont's Farm of the Year was honored at the annual Vermont Dairy Industry Association banquet.
The Gervais family was recognized at Thursday's event. The Gervais farm began with 35 Jersey milking cows and 220 acres that they purchased in 1960.
The association says the honor is given not just to a farm that demonstrates superiority in dairy farming, but all-around community service.
"A great example of community service, service on select board, school board, service in the community, dairy diversity," said Tony Kitsos of the UVM Extension.
In addition to the dairy farm, the family also produces maple syrup.
