VSP urge Super Bowl revelers to use designated driver

Posted: Updated:

It's Super Bowl Sunday -- which for many -- is a time to celebrate.  But police say partiers need to be responsible.

The Vermont State Police say are reminding football fans that if they have been drinking to not to get behind the wheel.  Police say, like other events where alcohol is involved, senseless tragedies can result.  Police say they will be out patrolling the roads.

"Just go ahead and get yourself a designated driver, plan for a taxi ride home, plan for some way to get home safe other than driving impaired. There's many opportunities for them to make sure they get home safe without driving drunk or breaking the law or anything like that," said Vermont State Police Trp. Paul Ravelin.

Additionally, police say to be aware of the rapidly changing and unpredictable winter weather Vermont has been experiencing.  The road conditions can decline quickly making travel dangerous for motorists.
