A Burlington band suffered a big loss in an apartment fire this morning.
The blaze broke out in a top floor apartment on Riverside Avenue. A quick response from firefighters contained the flames -- mostly to a single unit -- though neighboring apartments did sustains some damage.
The apartment was home to Aaron Burroughs, the front man for the band Funkwagon. He saw the fire crews on scene when he returned from running an errand. "First of all I wanted to make sure everybody had gotten out of the house, but all of my instruments are in there. I'm not going to be able to work and I'm a bit worried -- I'm a bit worried about what I'm going to do," Burroughs said.
Burroughs says he does not have insurance. His band is scheduled to play tomorrow night at the 1/2 Lounge in Burlington and he hopes people will turn out.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
