BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - An Arizona man has been sentenced in Vermont federal court to 2 ½ years in prison after he pleaded guilty to conspiring to distribute oxycodone.
Court records say 52-year-old Mark Karas of Tucson was indicted in 2012 after police made several controlled purchases of oxycodone from a Vermont man. An investigation showed Karas was mailing the pills to him from Arizona and was being paid for them by return mail.
The recipient, 28-year-old Mark Turner of Fairfax, pleaded guilty last year and was sentenced to time served. Karas was not arrested until last spring, following a traffic stop in Missouri.
