MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - Gov. Peter Shumlin's administration is announcing more than $2 million in federal funds for alternative transportation improvements across Vermont.
Projects include sidewalk improvements, repairing the roof of the North Bennington train depot and scoping funds for proposed projects in Wilmington, Burke, Springfield, Hartford, Fair Haven and Killington.
The bulk of funding will go toward projects in Putney, St. Albans, Williston, Hyde Park, Cabot, Rutland City, Springfield, Montpelier, Readsboro and North Bennington.
The funding comes through the Transportation Alternative Program, an initiative designed to fund pedestrian and bike projects along with infrastructure development for non-drivers.
