It's cold and winter white outside, and what better time for a little escape into a garden! This week, we continue our garden tour with a visit to the Berkshire Botanical Garden just outside of Stockbridge, Mass.
It's a beautiful garden. And it's about 15 acres, so it's not an overwhelming garden; it's not a huge garden. You can walk around easily; it's very intimate. You can spend a few hours here and see everything. But they have a lot in 15 acres. There are 26 display gardens, from perennial flower borders to children's gardens to all different kinds of gardens mixed in to this nice acreage.
And one of the themes they have are potting sheds. They have local designers who made these different potting sheds with different artistic expression.
There is one that looks like a Zen, Buddhist kind of garden shed. And then you have another one that looks like it's something that they threw a tarp on the top, and had a little cage around it and it's a very impromptu potting shed. And then they have another one that looks more like a work of art than potting shed, but it's still, a functional potting shed.
And then of course they have a potting shed that has a green roof on it, and what could be more appropriate than that. It looks like they need to get a weed whacker up on that!
And finally, they have a potting shed made out of recycled materials. So old doors or old windows or old boards that you have around, slap them all together and voila, you have a potting shed!
So when you go to a botanical garden, they often have themes that will just really stretch your imagination, and make you look at your landscape in a different way.
