The 13th Annual Northern Vermont Snowshoe Race is happening at Smugglers' Notch. There's a 1/2 mile kids' fun run, a 4K fun run/walk, and an 8K race that is a qualifier for the 2014 US Snowshoe Association National Championship that happens on March 1st in Bennington. Registration goes until noon.
Up in Orleans, there is the 'February Follies' - St. Paul's Catholic School presents a family-friendly, gut-busting variety show to cure the midwinter blues from 1-3:30PM at the Municipal Building. $6 a person or $20 per family.
LOCAL FARM TOOL HISTORY
Hear Paul Wood - In "Inventive Vermonters," the former engineer discusses locally created farm tools and fascinating stories of the inventors behind them. That's today at 3 PM at Richmond Free Library.
The Vermont Senior Games, where winter athletes ages 50 and up hit the slopes for the alpine race state championships, will be held. Registration starts at 8:45 a.m. at Sugarbush Resort in Warren.
The River Artisans Cooperative in Saxtons River will hold a Round Robin Crochet class, from 12–4 p.m., with four separate 45-minute projects. Students may sign up for any or all of these projects which build upon each other: 1) single, double, and half double stitches 2) changing color 3) how to read a pattern and 4) an exploration of combined stitches. That's in the back of the shop at 26 B Main Street in Saxtons River. Because space is limited, pre-registration is required. Eastman Trails Day is an event to support the Upper Valley Trails Alliance, and from 10-3 the Eastman Cross Country Ski Center is celebrating its 15th anniversary. Enjoy over 30 kilometers of trails groomed for skiing and snowshoeing. There are also opportunities for ice-skating and sledding!$10 per person (free for Eastman Residents) for general admission. Water and light snacks provided. Equipment rentals and food available at the Cross Country Ski Center for an additional fee.
