Police look for answers in Plattsburgh murder-suicide

Posted: Updated:

Police in Plattsburgh continue to search for clues in a husband-wife murder-suicide.

Autopsy results came back Tuesday for Wayne Cashman, indicating he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Authorities say Cashman used the same shotgun to kill his wife in their Maryland Road home early Monday.

Police are investigating possible motives.

Next-door neighbor Peggy Rouleau says she knew the Cashmans well, that they seemed like a happy couple and for this to happen is shocking.

"I don't know why he would do that. And she wasn't sick or anything. I never heard them argue, and he was very attentive toward her," Rouleau said.

Rouleau says the Cashmans leave behind one daughter and two grandchildren.
