Vt. Health Connect reports 'privacy incidents'

Posted: Updated:
BURLINGTON, Vt. -

Vermont Health Connect is reporting what it calls "privacy incidents" to the federal government and Vermont lawmakers.

The online health exchange has been working to fix problems with the website, and has reported Health Connect users accidentally being able to see another client's personal information before.

Now, Commissioner Mark Larson is making regular reports to state lawmakers detailing any incident involving a user's private information. He says during the prime sign up period between Dec. 20 and Jan. 24, two users had private info accidentally exposed to another user seven times. Larson says the incidents were due to human error-- like an envelope stuffed with the wrong person's form-- not technical glitches or a security breach from outside the system.
