LUDLOW, Vt. -

Big performances in Sochi for two Vermont Olympians. Hannah Teter just missed a medal, but Kelly Clark captured bronze in the halfpipe. Elizabeth Keatinge caught up with Kelly Clark fans at Mount Snow in West Dover.

"Quite honestly, not that surprised because she's done so well, but just absolutely thrilled," Barbara Rice said.

Rice is one of Clark's former teachers at Mount Snow Academy. She says she's extremely proud of her former student, but not at all shocked by Clark's bronze medal, as she was always determined and driven.

"At that time it was before the internet, so I would have to send her away with books and papers and she began to travel more, compete more and she had to mail in her assignments and she was always on time with her assignments," Rice said.

Students at Mount Snow have been celebrating all week, hanging banners and honoring the victories of their alumni, like Clark, who continue to bring home medals from Sochi.

"I expected her, that she'd get a medal again, because she's one of the more prominent women snowboarders and it felt pretty cool," said Max Lyons, a Mount Snow Academy graduate.

"I think that it's awesome that an athlete coming out of Mount Snow Academy is in the Olympics; it's great," said Calvin Lyons, a student.

Instructors at the school say a bronze medal from Clark inspires future Olympians, especially girls.

"Kelly getting the bronze was fantastic. Everyone from Mount Snow Academy is super proud of her. All the kids are stoked and especially our girl snowboarders can look to Kelly as an inspiration," said Thomas Anderson, a snowboarding instructor at Mount Snow.

Another day, another medal for a Vermonter.

Many of the students I talked to say seeing this victory makes them want to shoot for the 2018 Olympics in South Korea, and judging by the track record in the region, that's very possible.

At age 30, this might be the final Olympics for Kelly Clark-- and what a career she has had. She won the first ever halfpipe gold medal in 2002. She also won a bronze in 2010. She's also won a medal at every X-Games since 2004, including the last four straight. Quite a career for the West Dover native.

Dylan Scott went to Okemo Mountain in Ludlow, where Hannah Teter learned to ride. Friends there said it was quite an accomplishment.

Teter, 27, has also been one of the sports' top stars. She won the gold at the 2006 Olympics and the silver in 2010.

American Kaitlyn Farrington was the surprise gold medal winner in women's halfpipe. Defending gold medalist Torah Bright of Australia took the silver.
