Vt. officials respond to Newsweek article on Vt. health exchange

Posted: Updated:
BURLINGTON, Vt. -

Vermont Health Connect officials say new federal stats show it's ahead of other states when it comes to per-capita signups; 25,000 people have gotten coverage through the exchange.

The numbers come as Vermont officials push back against an article in Newsweek exposing dysfunction behind the scenes at Vermont Health Connect. Vermont officials sent Newsweek a lengthy correction letter. It questions details throughout the article, calling parts of it speculative and untrue. The point by point rebuttal covers eight parts of the article, including how a pre-launch demonstration with troubled website contractor CGI unfolded last summer and how nearly $170 million federal dollars is being spent. So far, Health Connect has paid CGI $19 million.
