A massive manhunt in Milton Saturday afternoon sparked by a false report.

Around 2:40 Saturday afternoon, multiple agencies responded to the Racine Road in Milton after a man called the Milton Police Department saying he had been shot in the stomach. A massive search began looking for the shooter, which included ATV's and snow machines on the ground, and a helicopter in the air. Police were able to track the caller's cell phone and located 29-year-old Lewis Gagne of Milton.

After Gagne was questioned by authorities, police say he admitted to fabricating the story about being shot in the stomach.

Gagne was taken into custody and processed at the Milton Police Department. He was issued a citation to appear in Chittenden County Superior Court-Criminal Division on March 20th, to answer the charge of False Public Alarm.
