At the Winter Olympics Wednesday, some strong team performances involving some local Olympians.
In the mixed team biathlon, the United States came in ninth place. All four members of the team were from our region: Susan Dunklee, Hannah Dreissigacker, Tim Burke and Lowell Bailey.
In the cross-country team sprint the American men, led by Simi Hamilton, finished sixth.
And in the women's sprint, Vermonter Sophie Caldwell helped the Americans to an eighth place finish.
Also Wednesday, American Ted Ligety took the gold in the giant slalom. He's the first American skier to win two gold medals since Vermont's Andrea Mead Lawrence in 1952.
Bode Miller was 20th in Wednesday's GS.
