SOCHI, Russia -

One of the side stories from the Olympic Games in Russia is the large number of stray dogs on the streets there.

The issue has not escaped American athletes, who have been adopting the dogs to bring back to the United States. That apparently includes Vermonter Lindsey Jacobellis. The snowboarder from Stratton is not coming home with a medal this year, but according a tweet from fellow Olympian Holly Brooks, Jacobellis plans to return with a four-legged friend. Jacobellis posted pictures of the dog on social media.

And Jacobellis is not the only one, several other Olympians have made it known they intend to provide new homes for Sochi strays.
