Police make arrest in deadly hit-and-run

ROCHESTER, Vt. -

Vermont State police say they've cracked a deadly hit-and-run case involving an elderly pedestrian.

It happened last month in Rochester. George Goding, 86, was found lying in the intersection of Route 100 and Park Row. He was able to tell police he was hit by a white vehicle heading toward Hancock. He was airlifted to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center where he later died.

Police said Thursday that after a lengthy investigation, they arrested Timothy Pratt, 47, for leaving the scene of an accident with death resulting. Pratt faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted.
