RUTLAND, Vt. -

Just hours after police raided a Rutland apartment house the building caught fire, and investigators say it was an act of arson.

Fire crews were called to 42 Cleveland Avenue at about 5:40 a.m. Friday. The fire was quickly put out. One person was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation. The Red Cross is providing assistance to four residents displaced by the blaze.

Officers with the Vermont Drug Task Force raided an apartment in that same building Thursday night and took one person into custody. No word yet on whether the raid and the fire are linked.

Anyone with information the fire is asked to call Rutland City Police Department at 802-773-1816 or the Vermont Arson Tip Line at 1-800-32-ARSON.
