STUYVESANT, N.Y. (AP) - State police say they're investigating the death of a 26-year-old woman who jumped out of a moving vehicle as it traveled on a Hudson Valley road.
Troopers say the woman was a passenger in a vehicle that was heading south around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Columbia County town of Stuyvesant, 20 miles south of Albany.
Police say the woman jumped out the passenger-side door and sustained fatal injuries. Her name hasn't been released.
Route 9 was closed for several hours after the accident.
Investigators are trying to determine why she jumped from the vehicle. They're asking anyone who witnessed the incident to contact state police at the Livingston barracks at 518-851-2894.
