HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) - A Long Island woman has pleaded not guilty to charges she repeatedly struck a municipal bus driver who had refused to make an unscheduled stop.
Ivey Dixon of Hempstead was arraigned Thursday on a second-degree assault charge. Bond was set at $15,000. Her attorney said in court that Ivey had no criminal record.
Nassau County police say the incident happened Monday afternoon on a Nassau Inter-County Express bus in Franklin Square.
Police say the 27-year-old Ivey allegedly beat the driver in the head and then fled with a young child when the bus stopped.
The 38-year-old bus driver was treated at a hospital for minor injuries.
