Plea deal in double-fatal crash

BURLINGTON, Vt. -

A St. Albans woman struck a deal with prosecutors in a deadly crash that killed a Northeast Kingdom couple.

Thursday, Alexis Gabree, 27, pleaded guilty to two counts of gross negligent operation with death resulting. In August 2012, police say Gabree was speeding and under the influence of drugs when she hit Edmund Moran, 82, and his wife, Margaret, 76, head-on on Route 105 in North Troy.

Under the deal, Gabree will spend 6-15 years behind bars. Her lawyer says sentencing is four weeks away to allow enough time for the victim's out-of-state family to attend.
