Vigils planned for slain Vt. toddler

Posted: Updated:
RUTLAND, Vt. -

Two vigils are planned this weekend for a toddler who was murdered last week.

Dezirae Sheldon, 2, died from a massive head injury. Her stepfather, Dennis Duby, is charged with second-degree murder.

The case has drawn attention from child abuse advocates because Dezirae's mother was convicted of abusing her last year, but then regained custody of her.

Two vigils are planned for Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. One will be held in Rutland at the Main Street Park, the other in downtown Barre City at the gazebo by the statue.
