Winterbike festival kicks off at Kingdom Trails

Posted: Updated:

Mountain bikers who can't wait until the snow melts are going to be hitting the snow in Lyndonville Saturday.

It's the third year of the Winterbike fesival at Kingdom Trails. Volunteers have been out grooming those trails so cyclists can keep in shape even in winter.

Any bikes are welcome but fat tire bikes, made specially for winter riding, are encouraged. Bike shops will have those bikes available for demos so anyone new to winter biking can check those out. There are also group rides at levels ranging from family-friendly to advanced.

"It's kind-of a party, and we have a downhill race that people cheer for and it's kind-of mayhem, and it's a big biking party," says Kingdom Trails Operations Manager Lilias Ide. "It's turned now into kind-of a fat bike festival because so many people have the fat bikes now."

The fun starts at 8 a.m. and it continues through the afternoon.
