A Williston man is facing a drunk driving charge after police say he nearly struck an off-duty officer.

It happened early Monday morning on Route 105 in Sheldon. The Swanton police officer says he was headed home when 18-year-old Paul Shortsleeves almost hit him head on. The officer was able to stop Shortsleeves on Rice Hill Road near Route 78.

Police say Shortsleeves was more than twice the legal limit. He was charged with DUI and taken to detox.
