BBA, MMU standing on top of the mountain

The Burr & Burton boys and Mount Mansfield girls continued their dominance of Vermont high school alpine skiing as the program's each claimed their fourth straight state title Wednesday at the slalom championships at Burke Mountain.

The Bulldogs and Cougars led the team totals after Monday's giant slalom races at Middlebury's Snow Bowl, and added to their leads in the slalom.

In the boys race, Burr & Burton placed three skiers in the top four, four in the top seven.  Tanner McGrath won the race by overa a second.  Teammates Andrew Sherras and Tom Morgantini finished third and fourth.

Michael Hladky of Essex was the long non-Bulldog in the top four, finishing second.

In the girls race, Mount Mansfield showed their depth as well, finishing 1-3-7.  Ali Chivers completed an individual sweep, adding the slalom win to her victory in the giant slalom Monday.  Her teammate Amelia Frederick came in third.

Abby Harrington of Colchester came in second.
