The Vermont Department of Labor held a job workshop Friday in South Burlington, where some recently laid off IBM workers and others looking for new jobs were in attendance.
They had classes on resume writing, finding the right career and they even held mock interviews. The Department of Labor says this workshop was aimed at helping recently laid off employees, veterans and people who have been unemployed for an extended period of time.
"The individuals that we're seeing that have been laid off have worked in places for 15, 25, 30 years and have not had to do resume preparation, they have not had to do any interviewing, so they needed to brush up on that and so those are the people we were focusing on" said Rose Lucenti of the Vt. Department of Labor.
Labor department officials say they have been in talks with human resources staff at IBM, and will be on site for a rapid response workshop for those who have just learned they will be laid off at the end of this month.
