We've got some tasty ideas for this second Sunday in March!


This year is the 20th annual Franklin Fire Dept. Pancake breakfast at the Franklin Central School. They serve more than 2,000 people starting at 6 a.m. Proceeds go directly towards the operational budget of the station. They have more than 40 local business sponsors supporting the event.



The Kingdom Dixie Band taps into the spirit of Mardi Gras with toe-tapping tunes from the early 20th century. A reception follows. That's happening at 4 p.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Newport. It's five dollars to get in.


'Country Nights to New York Lights' ... Opera North presents a program of American opera and song, featuring selections from West Side Story, Showboat and more. That's at 3 p.m. at Wilder Center in Wilder. Tickets range from 15 to 25 dollars.


Folks welcome spring with maple syrup treats, sap-boiling demos, live music and a petting zoo. From 12-4 p.m. at Palmer's Sugarhouse in Shelburne. It's a free event.



This cross-country skiing and snowshoeing event benefits the Green Mountain United Way. It's followed by complimentary pizza and prizes. That goes from 1-5 p.m. at the Craftsbury Outdoor Center.
