CCTA: No strike Monday, service will be normal

BURLINGTON, Vt. -

CCTA buses in Burlington will run on schedule Monday.

Sunday morning CCTA officials announced that after a marathon negotiation session they delivered a complete contract proposal to the union. The union will now vote on that and delay any strike until that vote happens. That means there will be no disruption to bus service Monday, so kids and commuters will be able to get to school or work.

"I'm glad to hear it's been canceled, but my opinion is if you don't like your job, going on strike ain't gonna solve nothing," said Shaun Gero, a regular CCTA rider.

"People have places to go and these bus drivers work really hard to get us to those places so I think that they should be treated fairly," Jody Rasulo, a regular CCTA rider.

The union and the CCTA have been at odds over working hours, the hiring of part-time drivers and working conditions.
