Makeover in the works for Burlington's City Hall Park?

Posted: Updated:
BURLINGTON, Vt. -

An iconic Queen City park could be getting a major makeover. A final design has been approved for renovations on City Hall Park on College Street. The plans include a performance stage, a new fountain, space for vendors and a public bathroom. Some of the only things that will remain the same are several memorials already in the park. City officials say early estimates for the project are more than $1 million.

"Our sense is today it is a park that works great on Saturdays during the summer when the farmers market is there-- it's kind of a spectacular scene. During a lot of the rest of the year, it does not work as well as it should," said Mayor Miro Weinberger, D-Burlington.

Right now there are no plans in place for how the work would be paid for or when it would begin.
