MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - The National Life Group says it's been granted a permit to build a 500-kilowatt solar array on its Montpelier campus.
National Life said Tuesday the Public Service Board granted it the permit for the project that would erect 2,090 stationary, ground-mounted panels on 95 racks near the southern portion of the company's property.
The arrays would provide about 15 percent of the electricity used by the company's 525,000-square-foot building, the largest commercial building in the state.
The National Life building is home to roughly 2,000 employees of the National Life Group and the state of Vermont.
The project is separate from a 70-kilowatt solar array installed on the company's roof in 2008.
