Senators pull an all-nighter on climate change

WASHINGTON -

A group of senators spent an all-nighter on Capitol Hill talking about climate change.

Twenty-six Democrats and two independents, including Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, held a fact-gathering hearing on the realities of climate change.

The bill itself isn't likely to get anywhere because it lacks needed support. Instead, the session was meant to be an informative platform on the topic.

"Climate change is real, climate change is man-made, and climate change is already causing severe damage in terms of drought, forest fires, floods, rising sea levels and extreme weather disturbances," said Sanders, I-Vermont.

Democratic leaders have said they will bring a climate change bill to the floor in 2014, but right now there is no sign of the 60 votes needed to pass a law.
