Vt. police: Burglar used vehicle to break into store

Posted: Updated:
RUTLAND, Vt. -

A bizarre burglary in Rutland left a store with a big hole in a wall.

Vermont State Police say they received a call around 7:40 a.m. Thursday that the front door was smashed in at the Home and Farm Center on the corner of McKinley Avenue and Route 7. And police believe the burglar used a vehicle.

The store says up to 10 flat-screen TVs were taken. They are still reviewing their inventory.

Police say the items were probably targeted because they can easily be re-sold.

"Typically, what we are seeing right now is people are stealing items of worth to support a drug habit. These items are easily sold on Craigslist, eBay," Vt. State Trooper Lewis Hatch said.

The investigation is ongoing. If you any information, call state police.
