CCTA drivers set to strike Monday

The Burlington bus drivers unionofficially notified the Chittenden Country Transportation Authority that theywill walk off the job Monday.

Drivers have rejected CCTA's requestsfor binding arbitration. Friday, the CCTA board asked the union to reconsiderto avoid a strike. Drivers declined, arguing they're unhappy with severalissues including wages, the number of part-time drivers and safe workingconditions.

Starting Monday, CCTA will not operateany bus service. Some Montpelier LINK Express trips operated by GMTA driverswill be running. Click here for details on schedules.
