Lake Placid plans Olympics parade

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. -

The Olympic Village in Lake Placid welcomed back 11 U.S. athletes from the Sochi Winter Games with a parade down Main Street Sunday.

Fans braved the cold to cheer on the local standouts and the hardware they brought back. Dartmouth's Andrew Weibrecht won a silver medal, Utica's Erin Hamlin took bronze and Steve Langton and Steve Holmcomb picked up two bronze medals in bobsled.

"I'm really excited to be able to head down Main Street and share it with everyone here. It's been my home away from home, so to kind of bring something home to celebrate's been really exciting and I can't wait to get back to Lake Placid and really say hi to everybody that's been a part of it," Hamlin said.

"Obviously winning a medal is fantastic but inspiring youth to kind of chase after their dreams and strive to achieve them -- that's one of the best things about competing at this level and being able to be a role model and kind of send that message to those kids -- that they can do whatever they want to do with some hard work," Langton said.
