LANDGROVE, Vt. -

Vermont State Police have issued a warrant for a man wanted for assault in Landgrove.

According to Police 22-year-old Jacob Johnson repeatedly choked and hit his victim in the head and face. When the victim's 9-year-old son tried to dial 911 for help Elizabeth Merrill allegedly took the phone and told him not to call. The victim told police that's when the boy used his body to shield his father from the beating.

The victim was eventually able to call 911 and that is when Merrill and Johnson took off. Merrill has been charged with aiding in a felony and interfering with access to emergency services. Johnson is still on the run and wanted for domestic assault.
