Woodstock bookkeeper admits to embezzlement

A motel bookkeeper has admitted to embezzling more than $200,000 from her employer.

Pamela Smith, 57, of Barnard worked at the Shire Riverview Motel in Woodstock. Prosecutors say over a four year period, Smith wrote checks to herself, stole cash payments made by guests and used Shire accounts to pay personal bills.
Smith pleaded guilty to a federal wire fraud charge and was released pending sentencing.
