RYEGATE, Vt. -

Vermont State Police say a Ryegate man arrived home to find thieves allegedly stealing his things.

The burglars tried to flee in a car, but it got stuck in a snowbank. That's when police say the suspects ran.

Crystal Barney, 23, Nelson Barney, 21, Moriah Benway, 19, and Daniel Wilder, 24, all of Barre, were arrested for the break-in. During the arrest, authorities found more than $4,000 in stolen items on the suspects and in their car.

As a result of the investigation, police recovered more items the group allegedly stole from another home. However, State Police say no one has yet to report that break-in.

The items from that burglary include a Nikon camera with accessories, binoculars, and several DVD players.

Troopers say the robbery likely happened in Barre, Orange, Groton, Ryegate, Wells River, Newbury or the surrounding area.

State Police encourage victims of home burglaries in this area to contact the Bradford Barracks.
