MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - The state Lottery Commission wants to renew a proposal to install gambling machines in Vermont bars and restaurants.
The House has voted down the idea. But the commission wants to bring up the proposal in the Senate.
Lottery Director Greg Smith tells Vermont Public Radio an informal survey of bars shows that there's interest in the plan. He said he wants to conduct a pilot test in about 25 establishments.
The measure will be reviewed by the Senate Economic Development committee.
