Posted: Updated:
EAST MONTPELIER, Vt. -

An East Montpelier teacher is being honored by students and parents for his tireless work in the classroom.

Judd Levine is a special educator at U-32 High School. Wednesday, he was one of 10 teachers from across the nation to receive the LifeChanger of the Year award. More than 400 teachers were nominated.

Teachers surprised Levine with a ceremony to thank him for his work.

Levine says connecting with students and impacting their lives is his greatest work.

"It's those pieces that really keep me the most motivated, knowing that two years with a student could have lifelong lessons that they can hold on to," Levine said.

Levine was presented with a prize of $1,500, as well as a matching donation to the school.
