Jury clears former Dartmouth student of rape

A Dartmouth College student was foundnot guilty of raping a fellow student.

In a case of he said, she said, thejury found in favor of the defendant.

Parker Gilbert, 21, a freshman fromLondon, was arrested last May after the alleged victim told police that Parkerentered her room uninvited and raped her.

Gilbert's lawyers told the juryencounter was entirely consensual-- a case of awkward college sex, but not acrime. Gilbert did not testify during the trial, but another female student inan adjoining room testified that she heard nothing that night indicating a rapewas taking place.

The jury deliberated for about 4.5hours before delivering the not guilty verdict Thursday.
