Vt. couple wins $1M in Powerball

Posted: Updated:

Someone was very lucky when they bought a Powerball ticket in Glover.

The ticket bought at Currier's Quality Market matched five numbers in Wednesday's drawing, not including the Powerball. And that means it's worth $1 million.

The young couple discovered their good fortune early Thursday morning and immediately went down to Currier's to confirm their winnings.

"He came in I think around 5:30 and said I think I won a million dollars. So I run it through the machine-- he was winner! That's nice, hunh!" store owner James Currier said. "The winner told me he wanted to hug someone... So I sent him to the deli lady."

The winning numbers were 28, 33, 41, 44 and 59; the Powerball was 21. Nobody won the jackpot Wednesday, so Saturday's drawing is estimated to be $50 million.
