A fugitive from Vermont was captured in Massachusetts early Thursday morning.

Police arrested Evan Cox, 28, of Springfield, Vt., at a home in Pittsfield, Mass., where they found what appeared to be a drug operation. Cox was wanted on multiple counts aggravated domestic assault and possession of drugs. He has been on the run since February 2011.

Inside the Pittsfield home, investigators say they found three handguns, two bulletproof vests, a Kevlar helmet, a stun gun, cocaine, marijuana, PCP, scales and $30,000 in cash.

Cox was arraigned on state charges and as a fugitive from justice.

A Connecticut man was also arrested in the bust.

Investigators say a lengthy investigation by the U.S. Marshal Service Vermont Violent Offender Task Force led authorities to Pittsfield. The investigation included U.S. Marshals, Vermont State Police, Massachusetts State Police, Berkshire County Drug Task Force and the Pittsfield Police Department.
