Rice Prep Girls Hockey Ready for Nationals

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. -
It will be the second time in the 5 year history of the program the Rice team has qualified for the USA Hockey 19u Tier I National Championships.  This past weekend the Knights took second place in the New England Regional Championship in Hartford Ct.  In the qualifying game the Knights dropped one of the Ct. power house teams the Midfairfield CT Stars 3-1. Sam Fuller scored first for the Knights and Midfairfield answered in the second to tie it up.  Kierra Wright scored the game winner to lift the Knights to 2-1.  Hanna Elliscasis put in an empty netter to secure the win. Rice Junior standout goaltender, Madison Myers, turned back many Midfairfield opportunities in the game.
 
The Knights will go on to the National Championships being among the top 16 Tier 1 teams in the country. Tier I is the highest level of youth championships sponsored by USA Hockey.  The Championships are April 2 – 6 in Marlborough Ma. at the New England Sports Center.
