School bus driver denies DUI charges

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. -

A school bus driver denies he put kids in danger by driving drunk.

Police say Carl Lupton, 57, of Bethel, was driving a busload of 50 students to the South Royalton School last Monday, when they got a report he was drunk.

Lupton works for Butler Bus Service.

When police processed Lupton, they say his blood alcohol level was 0.06-- triple the limit for school bus drivers.

Lupton denied DUI and child cruelty charges.

He was convicted of DUI eight years ago.
