Destination Recreation: Sugaring Fun

Posted: Updated:

Now that sugaring season is officially here, even if it came a little late this year, many of you are out tapping trees and boiling sap. This week in Destination Recreation, we asked you to send in some of your favorite moments so far.

Our first photo comes from Swann's Sugar House in St. Albans. Gathering sap has been a tradition there for generations and now the grandkids run the sugar house! Thanks to Mary-Ellen Hutchins for the photo.

Of course we know syrup is best when it's hot off the press. Thanks to Jenn Rouleau from Williamstown for this shot!

Julie Wilder sent this one in of 18-month-old Aiden. He loves helping to check the sap buckets in Middlesex. That morning their sap wasn't just running, they said it was glowing!

Sometimes you're too young to help out yet, but 2-month-old Lily had her first visit to her grandpa's sugar house! Thanks to Nicole Young for sending that in!

And we know polishing off some sugar on snow can be a team effort. The Green Mountain Glades Squirt Hockey Team took care of this sugar on snow party in Fairfield. Thanks Michele Racine for the photo.

And Rachel Jenks is a fifth-generation sugarer in Bondsville. Her family built this sugar shack with custom designs -- can you spot all the maple leaves?
