With the international ski season coming to an end, many of our region's local standouts have come home to enjoy their off-season. However, that doesn't stop some from making a few more public appearances before the snow finally melts.
At Sugarbush's Mt. Ellen today, Burke Mountain Academy alum and two-time alpine skiing Olympian Nolan Kasper stopping by to do a little bit of instructing on the Inverness Trail. While also signing autographs for a room full of eager fans.
Kasper has plenty of reason to smile these days after having a very strong showing at the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia.
After battling back from two hip surgeries and a torn knee ligament, the 25-year old put it all on the line, finishing a career best 13th in the slalom. Overall, the effort was 11 spots better than his 24th placement at the Vancouver Games.
If there was any one message Kasper wanted to share to the young skiers training today, it was that in this sport, success comes hand-in-hand with believing in your ability.
