Autopsy fails to reveal NY student's cause of death

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -

An autopsy did not reveal the cause of death for a college student found dead in Plattsburgh.

The body of Kodi Beckles, 20, of Poughkeepsie, was discovered Monday morning behind an auto dealership on Route 3. That's about a mile from where the junior at SUNY-Plattsburgh was last seen early Saturday morning at an off-campus party.

After completing the autopsy, the medical examiner was not able to determine either the cause or manner of Beckles' death. He is awaiting further investigation and results of toxicology tests.

A second vigil to remember Beckles is scheduled for 6p.m. Tuesday in the Memorial Hall gymnasium on the Plattsburgh State campus. Students also gathered Monday night in memory of Beckles.

Anyone with information in the death of Beckles is asked to call New York State Police in Plattsburgh at 518-563-3761, Plattsburgh City Police at 518-563-3411 or SUNY Plattsburgh Police at 518-564-2022.
