BURLINGTON, Vt. -

Charges against former Channel 3 News Reporter Matt Henson have been dismissed.

Henson was arrested in March 2013 after police say he groped a woman at a Lyndonville bar and fought with bar staff. Henson was charged with lewd and lascivious conduct and prohibited acts.

But Wednesday, just as the case was about to go to trial, the prosecutor dropped the charges. State's Attorney Lisa Warren's notice of dismissal states that, "After conducting lengthy discovery in this case, and consultations with the complaining witness, the State believes dismissal is in order." The charges were dismissed with prejudice, meaning they cannot be re-filed.

Henson, who no longer works at WCAX-TV, issued a statement saying he's "glad this yearlong nightmare is over" and he can finally move on with his life.
