NH Senate hopeful Brown: Health law costs liberty

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (AP) - Thespeculation is over and the campaign has begun for Republican Scott Brown, theformer Massachusetts senator who is hoping to return to Washington by way ofNew Hampshire.

Brown formally announced his campaignThursday in Portsmouth, where he lived as a baby before moving toMassachusetts.

He accused Democratic incumbent JeanneShaheen of being a rubber stamp for President Barack Obama, and criticized hersupport for the federal health care overhaul law. Tweaking New Hampshire's"Live Free or Die" motto, Brown said the law forces people to make achoice "live free or log on," and said the worst is yet to come.

Brown, who moved to New Hampshire in December, facesseveral other Republican primary opponents in the September primary.
