Fashion show supports VNA

Posted: Updated:
SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. -

It is another sure sign of spring-- the annual Fashion Show Fundraiser for the Visiting Nurse Association.

The VNA has been producing a fashion show for at least 15 years. Members of the community, including Channel 3's own Darren Perron, serve as the volunteer models. Local clothing stores supply the fashions. About 325 guests were on hand to enjoy this year's event at the Sheraton in South Burlington.

The money raised will support the VNA Family Room.

"The VNA Family Room is a parent-child center. It's housed in the Old North End of Burlington. We serve nearly 500 families a year and it has para-education, family play, fatherhood groups, we have gardening, sewing and cooking classes, nutrition classes," said Ann Irwin of the Visiting Nurse Association. "It's a way to build strong young families and to make sure that children are ready for school."

Local businesses are helping to sponsor the fashion show. The VNA expected the show to raise $45,000-$50,000.
