BURLINGTON, Vt. -

The woman who braved shark-infested waters on a record-setting long distance swim will try to inspire graduates at Middlebury College this spring.

Diana Nyad became the first person to swim the 110 miles between Cuba and Florida without a shark cage. The 64-year-old completed the journey in 53 hours. Middlebury's president calls her bold, fearless and inspiring. She will deliver the commencement address at Middlebury May 25.
