Prosecutors say a Burlington man will admit to killing his secret lover-- three years after the murder.

Daniel Whalon, 28, is set to plead guilty Friday to second-degree murder. He's accused in the 2011 stabbing death of Ralph Bell, 54, on a railroad bridge between Burlington and Winooski.

The state is pushing for 25 years to life in prison, but prosecutors say the defense will ask the court for less jail time.

The change of plea comes six months after a judge tossed Whalon's confession saying police violated his rights.

The hearing Friday is scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
